Une équipe artistique, scientifique et de design internationale, constituée du scientifique David Edwards, professeur à Harvard ; du spécialiste australien du café, à la renommée mondiale, Toby Estate en la personne de Ryan Spinoglio ; de l'artiste Carsten Nicolaï ; et du maître parfumeur Olivier Pescheux de chez Givaudan, rend possible le rêve d'une communication olfactive dans une exploration sensorielle. Pour sa seizième expérience, Le Laboratoire nous invite à aborder cette exploration à travers le café, scénographié en cinq actes : écouter, sentir, goûter, manger, boire. Le visiteur finit par l'expérience olfactive du café virtuel grâce à la nouvelle invention: l'OPHONE.

The Olfactive Project was created by an international team of artists, scientists, and designers including the founder of Le Laboratoire David Edwards, the master perfumer Olivier Pescheaux from Givaudan, the coffee master from Toby Estates in Australia Ryan Spinoglio and the artist Carsten Nicolaï. This 16th experiment from Le Laboratoire invites us to perceive coffee through five unique and independent acts: we "listen" to, smell, taste, eat, and at last drink coffee. The experiment is then completed by sending an electronic coffee odor around the world with the latest invention of Le Laboratoire : the OPHONE. For the exhibition, we designed a scenography based on the principles of synesthesia. In that regard, a range of furnitures was developped to serve this idea, by associating fragrances and tastes to visual stimuli...
